DJay 95 Plays: GunForce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island (Arcade) Longplay
4Hey players, DJay here with a new run and gun longplay on one of Irem's arcade games of the early 90's, GunForce.
Description of the game:
GunForce: Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island is a scrolling run and gun game by Irem Corporation released in arcades in April 1991 in Japan and September 1991 in North American regions on the Irem M-72 system board. It received 1 home port on the SNES in November 1992. It was included in a compilation of Irem Arcade Hits in 2011 alongside other Irem games, including its 1994 sequel. The player's voice clips were reused in its sequel.
On an unnamed island on Mother Earth, there exists invaders dwelling in an underground base somewhere. 2 soldiers are dropped off on the island and tasked with disposing of them. Enemy soldiers stand in their way and they will be forced to fight through their defenses to reach the invaders.
In this game, players start off armed with a normal gun that can be fired in 16 directions. Some enemies drop power-ups that will upgrade your weapon including the full-auto machine gun, heavy damaging bazooka, laser and a flamethrower, each varying in ammunition counts. Should players find themselves running out, they can acquire bullet power-ups to refill the ammunition, or acquire the same power-up that will give twice the amount of ammunition rather than 20% extra. Aside from power-ups, there are some vehicles placed throughout each stage that the player can use, most armed with turrets that are utilized to shoot down enemies, but must be careful not to leave themselves susceptible to enemy fire. They also give players limited protection and change colour as they take damage.
Making contact with enemy vehicles, projectiles or falling into bottomless pits will cost you a life and you will respawn with your weak default weapon.
