God damn this level was a kick up the rear! I didn't think I would be going to Haste with much of a challenge considering the maps didn't look so bad, but wow I was wrong. Haste already offers a challenge like no other wad has so far. These fights are adrenaline inducing and difficult to say the least.
But this is Haste, a 17 map megawad produced by various mappers in the doom community which consists of slaughter-themed fights and more. This first map starts you off in a weird scenario. 2 paths, 3 keys and a ton of imps, hitscanners and lost souls. Obviously by strafing into the wall, you'll have just enough momentum for your hitbox to clip the key and grab it, so then what about the other key. Well, you have to fight for it.
Jump down into the pit and hope you get lucky with your berserk punches. I have had some seriously weird scenarios play out in this bit which ultimately costed me a lot of my runs, but usually i'd make it out just fine. Clear out the imps, chaingunners if you wanna be safe too, and then make your way down to the ground fight. Here 2 arch viles, 2 revenants, annoying mancubi and lots of fodder enemies await you. Try to prioritise getting rockets so you can clear out the tanky enemies. The fodder are no problem, however they can really chip your health down low, so try to take cover whenever a big group is near and fire the rocket launcher when you peek out. This area is where most of my runs ended.
Once you take the lift back up, you need to go down the second path to get all kills. This is no problem, just grab the rockets behind one of the pillars and blow everything to shreds. berserk punch the vile and get out to go towards the final area.
The final area contains a tight area with loads of crushers. Here there are lots of barons, a cyberdemon and some fodder enemies. Use the barons to infight the cyber whilst pressing the switches and ultimately dodging everything. If all goes to plan, you should have plenty of health and ammo to kill the monsters. As for the mancubi from earlier, you can telefrag them at the end of the map so don't waste your ammo on them.
This map is pretty tough to get down. A lot of the fights can go horribly wrong, but with a good strat you should be fine. Fellow player mhrz had an insane run on this map, which i could never compete with. And with that being said that I had to be confident with my final time. It's not amazing but it's still sub 4 minutes!
