Wow, this map actually isn't so bad in terms of difficulty. It's a nice breather for the final showdown. An absolute crackle of all things menacing and all things fragile. Compared to Shamu, this map is much more generous in terms of ammo, health and arsenal.
You will unlikely run out of ammo (unless it's cells) whilst playing this incredible map. Yes, there's lots of high tier enemies, notably 5 spider masterminds. However they can all be telefragged through 3 of the 7 secrets in this map. All these secrets are extremely useful and will help you ace this map with a big grin on your face.
The start is fairly tricky, but can be mastered with ease. it involves a tough jump after balancing on a fairly thin ledge, but SR50 saves the day here. If you fail the jump the first 2 times, that's absolutely fine, just tag the secrets that are within the same area.
Once you make the jump, head over to the red key area and grab your BFG. This part of the map isn't so bad but even with invisibility, the chaingunners can shred you and the viles will sometimes target you and resurrect everything else.
Then there's the hardest part, which is opening the exit. This unleashes a horde of meatballs and a cyberdemon threesome. Hit the 4 switches, grab 2 of the cell packs and get the hell out of there. You wanna deal with everything else first before facing the three titans (which by the way is a complete pushover compared to the rest of the map).
By now you will have tagged most if not all secrets and you would have 300 cells left to deal with 3 cybers (and maybe a couple pain elementals depending on how lucky you've gotten). Try and 2 tap dance the cybers if possible and spam if there's 2 in the same spot, just make sure you have enough ammo to kill the rest of them off. And that's it. Crumpets is finished.
This is technically my first ribbiks wad that i've fully completed and I am proud of myself for doing so. I've come quite far but it's a shame to finish crumpets here. Going into this wad, I was nervous and very unsure I was going to finish it, but alas I managed to pull through. I highly recommend this wad for anyone that wants to improve at doom in general. These maps teach you a lot about combat scenarios and throw some really challenging tasks at you too. UV-Maxing this was no easy footstep for me, it took quite a lot of patience and practice.
However, this is only the beginning of my journey. I have conquered a few hard stumps already, but I have so much more to reach. There's a whole journey ahead, which involves me beating wads like Scythe II, Combat Shock 2, Sunder and even the notorious Sunlust. Hopefully this will come soon, and I promise not to disappoint you!
