Icarus Alien Vanguard was released on March 21rst 1996, And honored as the 6th wad out of 10 for 1996 in the top 100 wads of all time, It contains a story that follows the events of Doom II:Twelve years have passed since the invasion of Earth by Hell, Following a total war between Earth and a race similar to hellspawn, Now we control doomguy, who is part of the EDF or Earth Defense Force who has been alerted to a situation in space, The Icarus, Has been taken over by hellspawn so we now have to clear the threat through 32 blazing levels.
Icarus Alien Vanguard stands out from TNT Evilution in a few ways, It has new textures and map ideas that weren't used in TNT Evilution, The maps are broken down into "Ship", "Planet" and "Simulation" levels and each 3 maps follow the same lineup, In a few maps the mapping quality is eh.. a bit poor, A few maps have frustrating sections and REALLY bad ammo placement. The OST to Icarus is by a group of members including Tom Mustaine, Jeremy Doyle, Jonathan El-Bizri, and David Shaw, The final battle is a big letdown but I think Icarus is worthy of being just as famous as TNT Evilution.
