https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/scythe2 And now, Kids and Adults and all, It's time to talk about one a wad I am still trying to complete on Ultra Violence even today, You may remember (or not) that I tackled 2003's Scythe two years ago and I still regard it as one of my favorite megawads, Scythe II, Released originally in June 2005 and updated in 2009 by none other the legendary Erik Alm set the tome and mold for future Megawads like Kama Sutra, and various others, Scythe II is a coup-de-grace in doom form.

A winner of the 2005 Cacoawards, Scythe II, Like the previous wad is broken into episodes, Here there are 6:Gothic, Egypt, Industrial, Waste, Earth Jungle, and Hell, Each episode rises in difficulty as you progress and each time you lose all your weapons and the episode forces you to pistol start, Gothic is Easy, Industrial is Normal, Earth Jungle is Hard, and Hell is God fucking damn this is hard. New to this megawad is 2 custom enemies, The Evil marine is a faster nazi which can kill you quickly with a Plasma Rifle, and the Afrit, A Floating fire baron which hits like a fucking bitch.

I still cannot finish the first Earth Jungle level, Because I tell you, Scythe II is a special wad, Erik Alm made himself a master of doom combat and mapping and didn't get there just by making a lot of wads at once, he spent time on them, Scythe II will SHRED you to pieces later on if you don't use ammo correctly or have issues getting infighting to work right, And some of the later maps are so cramped with enemies that it becomes a BFG fest just to survive, But Scythe II will remain burned in my brain for a long time as it showcased what modern megawads can do.
