https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/reverie The last great megawads of Doom history are often believed to be Alien Vendetta and 2002 A Doom Odyssey, which were both released in 2002 and still remain important molds for which modern wads were made like Scythe II, Even today megawads are still being made and some don't impress much or seem generic, others are fine but I've yet to find a megawad that matches either Alien Vendetta or 2002 A Doom Odyssey.. But Reverie almost comes close.

Released on November 15th 2011 by Valkiriforce, featuring music by PRIMEVAL, Stewboy, and Jimmy, and honored as a 2011 Cacoaward Winner, Reverie is a 32 map megawad that is the followup to Valkiriforce's Doom Core. This megawad is heavily inspired and influenced by Plutonia 2, Icarus Alien Vanguard and Memento Mori among other wads while giving a Doom 2 feel throughout it's first episode.

Reverie's mapping is the star of the megawad, Containing running themes that blend in to give each map a unique look, The one thing Reverie struggles with, is the clumsy ammo placement, As the levels progress you'll be leaning on the high tier monsters with the supershotgun as rockets become more valuable later on, This does make it hard to recommend to players on ultra violence as Reverie becomes really mean in it's final episode, But damn, This is a sleeper hit here because of the detail Valkiriforce put into it.
