https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/cheogsh GZDoom has been a godsend to me, Certainly I know that there are sourceports like Chocolate Doom, Crispy Doom, and Doom95 that keep the game close to Vanilla as possible but I like to see what the GZdoom sourceport can do with fancy lighting and other features, Sourceports have made Doom much better than ever possible.

This 2007 Cacoaward winner is by Shadowman and the first in a trilogy of wads, Released on August 2nd 2007, Cheogsh is a large map showcasing ACS scripting, ambient dynamic colored lighting (like in Doom 64), and various custom enemies and bosses. The map itself is a back breaker with shadow imps that are very fast and remind me a lot of wraiths from Hexen, new pinkies who are also fast and some other odd enemies.

The one-part Cheogsh always gets me on is it's placement of switches or timed doors which can be a nuisance to reach, Ammo placement makes Cheogsh a ammo puzzle but its fine, and the music gives the wad a huge horror theme to it. I enjoyed Cheogsh a lot and with a mod like DemonSteele, It's even more intense and difficult.
