Doom Wads/Mods #456:TNT II Devilution
https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/104882-tnt-2-devilution-semifinal-beta-released/ Better late, than never eh? I guess with time somethings that are waited on forever finally release whether its good or bad, and the same can be said with Doom projects with some having died and are gone but not forgotten, others? Well, they are still being worked on but continue to thrive.
TNT II Devilution originally goes back to 2009 started by Whoo with work by Kyka but over the years little work happened and what came of that was a 2017 release named TNT Revilution which I have covered and did revisit, and it was often me cracking a wise joke about how TNT II would probably be like Duke Nukem Forever, but I was surprised to look on Doomworld and find this public beta release #5 which was released on March 29th 2019 to give a glimpse into TNT II Devilution after so many years.
Note that TNT II Devilution is a beta and not fully complete, so in story wise it's story is not related to TNT Revilution, Rather our story continues from when we've killed the Icon of Sin in "Last Call", The final map of TNT Evilution and now we've seen a bright blue light come from the monster's corpse.. It seems that Hellspawn is still entering the world and its our job to find out how to stop them.
To begin with, TNT II Devilution's maps are the highlight of this troubled development megawad's showcase, I can see how the maps have evolved throughout the years with details matching TNT Revilutions maps and also clear inspiration from Evilution and Erik Alm's Scythe along with new textures and surprises that Evilution wishes it could've had back in 1996, I don't want to spoil this for anyone who hasn't played yet however I'll say that the mapset seems like Revilution but more closer to natural landscapes rather than techbases of the later megawad, Only issue is the ammo placement and our rocket launcher I couldn't find until map10 which is very late in my eyes, Still Its nice to see what has been happening in between the years of this infamous release.
