https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/contain It's been nearly.. 23 years since the beginning of the 2000's and so much has changed with the FPS genre being a mismash of Generic Military shooters and boomer shooters that yeah can appeal but are seeming now to be so similar to one enough they all become a blur, but one things that will never change is Doom and its popularity.

Placed at 10 out of 10 wads for 2000 in the Top 100 wads of all time, Containment Area was released by J.C. Bengtson (SailorScout) on February 3rd 2000, It's a Doom II wad which pays tribute to Doom's E2M2 map which is Containment Area, As this is the 23rd anniversary of this wad, This was the perfect time to tackle it.

Firstly don't walk into SailorScout's Containment Area thinking this is 1993, as Containment Area is much different than the E2M2 inspiration it takes from, and with it being a Doom II wad, ALL monsters in that game are used to absolutely cruel potential and with this wad SailorScout does what the developers at I.D. Software did not do which was placing hitscanners pretty much around every corner and sneaky traps that all use silent triggers which BURNS, I will say that, They will burn you to ashes if you aren't careful.

Also being a 2000 wad it has some ooh fancy features for the time put together for source ports of the time, Health placement is cruel and forces you to take things slowly but ammo placement is good, and with this tribute, sure, it doesn't play like the original wad but it certainly allowed SailorScout to box us in and give us a nice remix of "The Demons From Adrian's Pen".
