0https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom/Ports/megawads/sstruggle You know, across the last 6 years, I've seen so many different distinctive styles come into Doom wads and mods, and as I mentioned in Season 14 I'll be making more effort to cover newer releases. This was originally going to be the finale of Season 15 but again I restructured Season 15 as I wanted it to be a fresh new beginning as 2023 reaches the last two months of this year.
Honored as a runner up at the 2022 Caocawards, Solar Struggle is a 36 level 4 episode megawad community project led by ViolentBeetle released on September 9th 2022, its story involves the demons of hell invading our solar system and as a prisoner on the moon Titan we get the chance to break out and escape, and ultimately, stop the invasion.
The ear searing soundtrack of Solar Struggle is the main thing that caught my attention with Jimmy, Dragonfly, Doomkid, Stewboy and others bringing the energy to each map while a few choices like Stage 1 from Cybernator seem out of place. Solar Struggle is no easy wad as you'll be constantly bushwacked by ambushes you'll never expect, and some very nasty scythe II slaughter points that left me needing a breather. What a ride this megawad is, It gives me faith that community projects are still a lifeblood to Doom.
