0https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/g-i/hive When I think of The Master Levels for Doom II and that special I ran on it, It made me think of the many Doom Wads CD-Roms that were made and how much material lies out there, but one day it will see its credit here. It came as a surprise to see that 16 wads were rejected from the Master Levels with Christian Klie having 6 of them, and of them, this one was the most suprising.
This wad was released in 1995 but a Doomworld I.D. Archive link was not made until May 2008. The Hive is a single player PWAD that is a dramatic shift for Christian who made the majority of the Master Level wads, Its a large map that looks deceptively small with a lot of platforming that requires reaching a area below you, It later opens up to large clusters of enemies and a lot of open space though the usual Klie stuff including death pits? They seem to not be used here, and of the 6 rejected wads, The Hive feels like the best of the work Christian did.
[[This is a curious case, I had planned to cover all the rejected wads from the master levels for the master levels special but decided to wait. But tbh the one thing that made me do it was a lack of interest since I only knew of the 21 wads in the expansion pack, though covering it now gives me a lot of respect for the ones that were cut]]
