Sample gameplay from the three main modes in the 2013 Wii U release of Dr. Luigi. Which was part of the the year of Luigi event, this one swaps out Mario for Luigi and is the classic puzzle gameplay you would expect from the Dr. Mario series. Truth be told we aren't huge fans of this puzzle game format as we always found it a bit dry compared to other arcade puzzle games like Tetris.
To be fair Dr. Luigi was the best version of the the game to date with a number of different puzzle modes Operation L, Germ Buster, Retro Remedy and online play. The other feature of this special version is the fact that you get a special L shaped pills to defeat the germs with. It's a well made title from Akira, but doesn't really do anything new, still on the plus side there is plenty of colour to it and everything looks great.
The aim as always with Dr. Mario is to match four pills or germs of the same colour to eliminate them all. The germs as always are the three primary colours red, blue and yellow. As with Tetris and most arcade style puzzle games the aim is avoiding filling the top of the screen with blocks or in this case pills. As of 2023 Nintendo no longer want you to buy the game either which is really kind of them...
