Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators Ver.9.7 - Sega Saturn - Intro, table gameplay & Necronomicon demo
5Kaze classic Saturn Pinball title Last Gladiators got a Japanese only 1997 re-release, hence the Ver.9.7 in the title. This all new version was revision 3.0 of the game and included a number of much need improvements to the game. All five tables return the four main table Gladiators, Knight of the Roses, Dragon Showdown and Warlock along with the hidden credits table Victors Last Gladiators and finally it also includes a short demo of Dreamlands from Necronomicon.
While at first glance you might think not much has changed, when you sit down and play the tables you will notice it. The big adjustment is to Knight of the Roses which make the big ramp on the left far easier to get around. In earlier version the ball would often fail to make it around the ramp, the ball also seems less likely to get stuck and a number of bugs that happened when playing the cheat table Victors has been fixed. Adjustments were made to make the ball move more realistically.
Best version of the game on the system with a very short demo of Necronomicon, you get around 3 minutes and one ball to play the table. However a large chuck of Necronomicon is on the disc and as this game released around a year after Necronomicon it quite likely you could unlock more elements of the game via action replay. Pinball Dot Matrix Animation Test
On the title screen while "Press Start" is flashing press: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, X, X, Start.
The game will enter a test mode for Dot Matrix animation.
Press Start after the debug information appears showing Vers 3.0 to allow table selection, pick a Table, then select the Dot Matrix animation you want then press A, to watch the animation.
