This video's focus for the benchmark and review are solely on the performance and technical side of the game.

Gameplay is always dependent on each individual's perspective and preference, thus my view on it will unlikely represent yours.

I am using the latest Nvidia drivers for both sides, which are the 349.12 drivers for Ubuntu and the 347.88 drivers for Windows.

Timeline:
1. Intro 0:00
2. Benchmark Results 0:45
3. Review and Summary 2:14

High Settings means the following are set:
Fullscreen - On
Texture Quality - Medium
Shadow Map Size - High
Foliage Quality - High
View Distance - 75%
Motion Blur - On
Film Grain Effect - On
All other settings are off

Low Settings means EVERYTHING is off or low.

With this new style of video, I'm able to include a greater plethora of results from different settings and still reduce the video's timestamp.

NOTE: If you are unaware, GLXOSD and FRAPS are able to log frames to a CSV file. This allows me to benchmark the game, by collecting frame information during a specific timeframe.

Methodology:
While Dying Light has no benchmark mode, I am able to log frames with GLXOSD and FRAPS for each system. Much like my Cities Skylines benchmark video, I go through the same scenes and approach my maneuvers in a time-based manner to best achieve an almost 1:1 gameplay scenario on each system.

Ubuntu 15.04 64bit against Windows 8.1 64bit, both updated to their latest.

My verdict: While Dying Light has been playable for me, it's pretty clear and jaring how different the performance is compared to the Windows port. If you haven't bought it yet, WAIT FIRST! See how Techland moves forward after patch 1.5.

If you can't tell, I love the game. I've almost got 100% achievements, all done on Ubuntu! However, I'm not blind to the game's problems, so I will tell it like it is.

Missing features, continously low fps regardless of settings, and rather consistent crashing can hardly be called a selling point for the Linux port at this time.

I may have made mistakes, and if I have done so, please forgive me and correct me in the comments. I've tried to do this benchmark and review to the best of my knowledge and capabilities.

WARNING: AMD and Intel users will experience different results. It all depends on your drivers and how well AMD and Intel decides to make them.
