Crysis Running on Ubuntu via Wine Staging

But, can it run Crysis? Yes, yes Ubuntu can! Thanks to Wine-Staging. On all High settings to boot!

In this video, I take a look at running Crysis 1 (Steam version) properly for the first time in Wine since it's release in 2007. I'm using Wine-Staging 1.7.39-CSMT on Ubuntu 15.04 64bit.

This video is generally cut into two sections:
1. Windowed-mode 0:00
2. Fullscreen 8:00

I was not able to get any OSD to work with Wine (xosd-bin, libglfps, frapix, glxosd). Thankfully though, Crysis 1 has r_displayinfo which can be turned on to allow us to see the fps.

I've attempted to condense the video as much as possible without omitting any information I think could be worthwhile to know about.

I used the latest Nvidia drivers, which were the 349.12 drivers at the time of this video.

The Wine prefix used was clean. The only thing I did was pass the -dx9 argument to Crysis in Steam's Launch Options.

If you're curious for the command I passed in the Terminal to start the Windows-version of Steam, this is it:
/opt/wine-staging/bin/wine Steam.exe -no-dwrite

This is a big improvement in my eyes, since I haven't ever been able to get this running. What's more, it runs so well! The high framerates is a real shocker!

I apologize in advance if I've made any mistakes, I attempted this video to the best of my knowledge. Hopefully you can take something informational away after watching this.
