Well, at the very least, I ended up finishing Mint's Story in this stream. I was really hoping to at least get Rue's started this time, but I guess the final section just ended up being waaaaaaay longer than I expected. Oh well, at least I made my self-imposed goal of finishing up Mint's story by the end of March. Not that I'm really complaining about it. Leaving Mint behind was always going to be a little depressing, just because of how bland Rue came across in her story. I guess it's more a question of whether or not the narrative itself will shift to fit with Rue's more "generic hero" personality or if everyone will maintain the same level of quirkiness. But I guess I'm repeating myself at this point.

Ironically enough, I think the hardest boss fight I had to go through in the final dungeon was the rematch with Psycho Master, because he pulled -- as Dari put it -- "Tekken exhibition match bullshit" on me the entire time, coupling his standard "you have to attack me from behind or else I'll just counter you for a decent chunk of damage" method of attack with invisible, but damage-inflicting walls. Seriously, the guy's wall-bounce game was ridiculous. That and the absolutely generic-looking maze area at the start were clearly my biggest timesinks for this entire session, though I have to give an honorable mention to forcing me to replay the platforming mini-game at Mel's atelier for graciously fraying my nerves.

Doll Master, on the other hand, was a literal joke of a fight. Maybe the unintentional grinding from the Psycho Master fight made me stronger, but I doubt it. Just seems disappointing that the mastermind was a bigger cakewalk than at least two of his minions. Oh well, at least the final boss fights were a bit more difficult, though even they didn't approach the absolute horror that was Psycho Master. Given the way the story played out, I wonder if Rue's final boss fights are going to be totally original. He's definitely got some unique areas in store for me -- and hopefully, that means I'll be skipping that fish boss fight.

I made absolutely sure to make a proper save file, just to make sure I get the special epilogue for beating the game with both characters. Dari even chastized me for making a brand-new file. But to be honest, I didn't want to take any chances. I want to keep that late-game Mint save, just in case anything goes awry.
