I've made several discoveries with Arena, the first Elder Scrolls game (a DOS game of all things). One of those discoveries is that, when there's a treasure room on the first floor of any fill-in dungeon (as opposed to one where the map is already fully filled in), the treasure in that room will always be the same. Leave the dungeon and return and it's the same treasure. Lucky you if it's an ebony helm as those sell for 30K gold each... but you can only carry a maximum of 19 of them at a time. The treasure stacking glitch is much more dependable for gold early on. Once you get to 6-figure gold, you don't need to bother with it any more. You'll inevitably pick up plenty more treasure along the way that'll just keep building up the riches.
