In this video, Elf, released in 1991 for the Atari ST by Ocean.
This is a classic rescue the damsel in distress platform game with elements of adventure. You play as Cornelius an elf living in a peaceful forest and must rescue Elisa from the evil Necrilous. You are armed with a ring that fires projectiles at enemies. During the game you can collect herbs and animals and trade them in shops for upgrades such as better weapons, extra speed or spells. From time to time you must also communicate with NPCs and fulfill their requests, in order to obtain specific items.
Graphically Elf is veeeeery nice to see, very colored, with nicely drawn and well animated sprites. Too bad there is no scrolling it would have been fantastic. The audio part of the game is well made, nothing wrong. The playability is good, the game is enjoyable but sometimes it gives you the idea of being lost without knowing what to do.
Here you'll find intro, gameplay of level one with bad timing and unsuccesful jumps and a very macabre game over scene.
