In this video, Gemini Wing, released in 1989 for the Atari ST by Virgin Mastertronic.
This is a direct port from the original coin-op vertical shoot'em up where we (and also a friend) must fight our way through the entire planet we are flying on, destroying everyone we encounter and defeating end level bosses.
The particularity of this game is that some enemy, once destroyed, releases special weapons in the form of orbs or other bonuses such as extra lives and speed. Collected orbs are accumulated by forming a floating tail at the bottom of the player's airplane. The accumulated special weapons are single-use and are consumed when the player wishes, but following the order in which they are in the queue. If you die they scatter all around the screen slowly falling down and then disappearing.
Gemini Wing on the Atari ST is a pleasurable good vertical shoot'em up, graphically brilliant, considering the 16 color limitation, with a smooth scrolling, some big sprites, and many little ones on the screen simultaneously. The audio is adequate and enjoyable. The playability is similar to the coin-op, a little easier IMHO. All in all a good conversion, worth being played.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.

Let me know what do you think about the video in the comments below but, most important, Enjoy!!!
