Elite Dangerous 2020 | My current Type 9 Configuration for laser mining
In this video about Elite Dangerous, I am going to share my current configuration for laser mining and using the type-9 in this case.
A few months ago I did a video about the type-9 vs the type-10.
This is the video I am referring to:

Anyhow, while I am a huge fan of flying the type-10 to do laser mining, I am starting to become more of a fan of using the type-9 because of the amount of time I do while doing laser mining in asteroid belts.
In the past, I would float in space for over 4 hours in a big cargo ship to get a full cargo bay. But since time is also my worse enemy (because I have plenty of other things to do), I started to fix certain problem areas just to make the game a bit more enjoyable for my own needs.
Normally I spend about 2 or 3 hours per day doing things in Elite Dangerous myself. And because time is a thing, I simply can't afford to fly around with a flying cargo container in space to mine 600 tons of minerals. I started to reduce the amount to about 512 (using the 2 class 8 slots with cargo containers). But still, it takes a while to get those full.
The biggest time sink I have found myself is that I am waiting too much on my collector limpets to gather all the materials. One part of the problem is that I am playing it safe (by putting some distance between me and the asteroid) and second I usually end up waiting for my limpets (no matter if I am standing right upfront of the asteroid, or with some distance).
So, waiting became a 'problem' from where I sit. This is an issue I have with both ships, the Type-9 Heavy and the Type-10 defender.
In this video, I will explain how I have gotten to the point on replacing the cargo of 256 with a Class 7-a limpet controller instead and what kind of quirks go with it.
Make note, this is still not a final config, since I am trying to add an additional mining laser, but that will also mean something needs to go away (or needs to be replaced).
Have fun, and I will talk to you later ;)
