Elite Dangerous - Heatsink Breaks Target Lock
Recently I had noticed that I was loosing target lock on enemy ships while in Combat Zones. I hadn't seen this happen before, so I spent some time trying to figure out what was causing it.
With help from a post on the Frontier Forums, I determined that it was caused by the targeted ships firing off heat sinks when they used shield cell banks. I think this behavior is awesome!
This video consists of 3 clips appended together.
The first shows me fighting a Viper MKIV and loosing target lock on it twice before taking its shields down.
The second shows me fighting a Vulture and loosing target lock on it once.
The third clip shows me fighting an Asp and although I do not loose the lock, at one point you can see the lock brackets on either side of the ship turn from red to yellow and then back to red.
Each time you can clearly see a heat sink has been ejected by the targeted ship.
