Enemy: Tempest of Violence (Amiga) CO-OP Playthrough part.1 / Unknown and exceptionally difficult .
What you see was recorded for a year and a half... it's hard to record this game when we meet once in a while. And the game requires your full dedication. The unedited video was over 6 hours long, and part of the training session was not even recorded. Part two will probably come someday.
Enemy: Tempest of Violence (1997) by Anachronia is one of the best games I've played on the system, and the funny thing is that virtually no one has heard of it. It's really sad, but well in 1997 Amiga was long dead and the public didn't care about it at all anymore. So it's partly understandable, but I'm also surprised that even the biggest Amiga enthusiasts don't remember it at all. Well, in the game there is no main character, instead we play the representatives of the human race, who were sent by their government on a research mission. Its purpose was to investigate unknown objects drifting near the planet Mars. They turned out to be spaceships, whose owners were not too pleased with the uninvited guests. The aim of the game is to evacuate as many scientists as possible and leave the hostile ships, and then probably exterminate the hostile beings, which are probably heading towards Earth. It is one of the most difficult platform games I have encountered. It is literally brutally hard, where even the smallest mistake can change the outcome of a mission to failure. Everything is literally calculated here.... sometimes one less bullet in the magazine is enough to start the whole mission from the beginning. The key to victory is to slowly learn the way of trial and error, until you finally reach the master level and pass the missions without problems. And believe me the beginning is hohoho just an innocent encouragement, only to throw you out in the middle of the ocean without a lifebelt to be devoured by sharks shortly after. I am absolutely convinced that this is one of the hardest co-op games in the world. Not only is it really hard to complete the mission perfectly on your own, but it's twice as bad with two people. I've seen many reviews on the internet that say this game is boring and demanding. But these are reviews written literally from my impressions after the first levels of the game. Written by ignorant people who simply didn't want to go a little further into the game. This is definitely one of the better-programmed Amiga games that slowly reveals its cards to the player. Our tasks will include, among others: getting from point A to B, escorting, delivering supplies, looking for prisoners, escaping, destroying generators, protecting scientists and other puzzles. The game also contains random elements, such as random accuracy and the number of damage received. Which can sometimes affect the success of the mission. Personally, I have never encountered such an extensive platform game on the Amiga...... I recommend giving it a chance yourself, if you dare... Oh, I forgot, the version we play is "Easy Play" where there is more time, ammunition and savepoints. Even despite this generous effort from the developers, the game is still extremely difficult. Graphically, it may not be the best, but the animation is smooth and the backgrounds are detailed enough to let us know what we're looking at. For me, the music fits perfectly into the atmosphere of a mission without hope for success :D it doesn't appear very often, but when it does, you feel the atmosphere and the seriousness of the whole situation. Kudos to the developers for their dedication and willingness to update the game over 20+ years after its release. In 2022, the latest version of the game was released, which is supposedly improved and more balanced than the version we play here. For me it's a hit and a must play.
