The original Deus Ex game is widely regarded as one of the most legendary games ever produced. The player is dropped into large, open levels with no set path toward completing their objectives, with the option to defeat their enemies lethally or not as they proceed, and the choice to cooperate with a number of different factions toward their ends. Deus Ex asked the player to be resourceful as they completed their goals and audiences at the time found this to be exhilarating. JC Denton’s flexibility within the gameplay segments also transferred into the game’s narrative, where players were given the choice to pursue different threads of the story to seek out their own truths. As time has passed, a number of games have appeared in spiritual succession to Deus Ex’s ideas, so is the original still worth engaging with? Does Deus Ex still have more to give 20 years after it was released?

There's a lot I'm unhappy with in this video, but the technical problems I encountered wouldn't allow me to overcome those failings. And the hbomberguy video really put some fire under my chair. Making changes for next time!
