F1 2023 Qatar GP Sprint Data Analysis - What Did We Learn?

The Sprint is over and Oscar Piastri is an F1 race winner as Mclaren beat Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the Qatar sprint at Lussail, but what did we learn from a sprint filled with tyre wear. Well I am going to be doing a data analysis from Sprint day, it was a sprint filled with incidents and overtakes as tyres were a big talking point. It was not sure whether soft or medium would be better but very quickly it became clear what tyre was better. Russell and the two Ferrari's of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz opted for softs and early on this looked like a good choice but very quickly this became the bad choice.
Grip was also very limited and we saw multiple drivers struggle for grip which led to Liam Lawson and Logan Sargeant losing the back end and finishing their race early in the gravel trap. Lewis Hamilton stormed through the field on his medium tyres as the softs faded quickly.
Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin opted to start on softs and save mediums for the grand prix and this led to him starting off well but fading as the race progressed.
