The air changed, not only in weight but in smell. A faint linger of putrefaction clung to the mansion's courtyard, it left a slimy feel in Snake's chest. The courtyard was small and square, the eternal dark artist painting the scene with a violet pallet. Nothing of interest stood out so Snake made his way to the mansion door with weapon in hand. He momentarily pondered the irony of his situation, how he was trusting his life to an out dated every day harmless item that looked to be seconds away from falling to pieces. The thought tickled his humor, at least that was one thing the village hadn't taken away from him though it was sure trying.

The mansion door was light and Snake could easily slide it open, a nice break from his last attempt at door traversing. The room was deceivingly large and in complete darkness with an even darker than black corridor stretching out in front of him. He strained his sight in to the distance before casting his torch in front of him. The light didn't even seem to illuminate half way down the corridor but it was better than nothing. He took a step forward in to the mansion when suddenly the torch flickered rapidly. Hideous shadows ran along the corridor and images of the dead came closer with each burst of darkness. What seemed like an hour of horror quickly died with the torch, closing the black curtain around Snake. initially in shock, he was actually grateful for the sudden calm the darkness brought. With a fatigued drop of his head, he smirked to himself.

"One more comfort you've taken from me..."
