548The Camera Obscura... It possessed the ability to destroy that which should not exist. At least that's what Snake managed to make out from an aged parchment consisting of out dated language and incomprehensible ramblings resting on top of an even older looking camera. He picked up the camera and dusted it off. Checking for film, he saw an old blue case with '14' scratched on to its surface loaded in to the camera.
"The power to destroy that which should not exist huh..." Snake mumbled to himself as he studied the antique. It looked fairly normal even though it seemed to be more suited to an age closer to the dinosaur's time on earth rather than his. He raised the camera to see if it could still fulfill its purpose when Mayu let out an alarming scream. Reacting on impulse and jolted fear, he swung his body around facing his sister, accidentally triggering the camera, emitting a blinding flash which was followed by a hollow moan. Snake clumsily threw himself in Mayu's direction in his temporary blindness and held on to her until they regained there senses.
"Are you okay? What happened?" Snake pressed for answers. Mayu just lay there staring right through him. She was clearly shook up by something. "Don't worry it's okay now, nothing's going to happen." He reassured his shaking sibling with a touch to the shoulder, he wasn't really one for physical consolation.
He sat down next to her, resting against a wall. Still returning his heart rate back to normal, he took a moment to look at the camera. It used polaroid film, there was a photo hanging out the front of it. He carefully pinched the edge of the picture and pulled it out of the camera before indulging in the movie like shaking to obtain the picture within the photo. As he stared at the small square, an image started to emerge, like a blotch of ink hitting paper and slowly expanding. He could make out the bright colours of Mayu's clothes first, her position looked as if she was pulling away. Confused, Snake looked harder, impatiently waiting for the details to emerge before finally the image was clear. A woman was seen lunging at Mayu, her clothes ripped, her skin bruised, the image distorted around her and her whole body was translucent.
"What the hell!?" Snake dropped the photo in fear of the sudden realisation... He just saw a ghost. He didn't want to trouble Mayu with showing it to her, she was already scared enough as it is, he decided to put the picture away in his pocket but as he reached for the photo, he felt a sudden punch of fatigue hit his head. He fell to the floor, out cold.
When he woke, Mayu was gone...
