Items: Orichalcon (stolen), Elixir (stolen), Rubber Suit (stolen), Avenger (stolen)

Key Items: Earth Mirror, Wind Mirror, Fire Mirror, Water Mirror

All that needs to be done to progress is simply defeat Taharka. Before delivering the letter for Kumool, set up the party as follows:

Zidane - Dagger, Black Hood, Jade Armlet, ----- , Reflect Ring (Bandit, Master Thief, Ability Up, Distract)

Steiner - Flame Saber, Cross Helm, Thunder Gloves, Shield Armor, Lapis Lazuli (Add Status, Ability Up, Distract, Accuracy +)

Freya - Javelin, Barbut, Venetia Shield, Linen Cuirass, Lapis Lazuli (Ability Up, Distract)

Quina - Silver Fork, Green Beret, Egoist's Armlet, Gaia Gear, Fairy Earrings (Ability Up)

Taharka is weak to Heat, which will instantly die if it attacks or acts while under that status, which is the best way to win. There are a few final abilities that need to be learned before Pandemonium and the setups above will take care of most of them! For you path B and C users, Dragon Killer should already be learned from defeating Tantarian.

Once you get to Taharka, you must steal the Orichalcon and inflict Heat on the boss immediately! There is a 10% chance that Steiner will inflict it, but reserve your limits to as much as five attacks if you survive that long. Taharka can curl, which will buy you two or three more attacks, but in the end make sure that everybody is alive for AP...

Key Abilities Learned:
Zidane - Flee, Accuracy+, Auto-Reflect, Locomotion, Body Temp
Steiner - Distract
Freya - Dragon Killer (Path A), Cover, Accuracy+
Quina - Level Up

Return to save at Kumool, but don't get upset if you get an encounter on the way back, as getting the Orichalcon takes priority over anything else. Consider yourself lucky if you make it back unscathed. Once you retrieve Amarant, its time to prepare for Zidane and Quina's fight with Earth Guardian, preferably before entering Daguerreo:

Zidane - Orichalcon, Green Beret, Bone Wrist, Power Vest, Power Belt (Devil Killer, MP Attack, Bandit, Insomniac)

Quina - Silver Fork, Green Beret, N-Kai Armlet, Gaia Gear, Yellow Scarf (Insomniac, Millionaire, Ability Up)

If Quina did NOT learn Night while in Fossil Roo, then give Quina the Reflect Ring and activate Auto-Reflect instead.

Inside Daguerreo, repair the lift and enter the weapon shop to sell now useless items and buy the last of the missable items:

Items sold: 45 Potion, 43 Ore, 12 Wing Edge, 8 Eye Drops, 1 Survival Vest, 1 Desert Boots, 1 Fork, 17 Annoyntment, 4 Antidote, 2 Shield Armor, 1 High Mage Staff, 1 Needle Fork, 2 Dead Pepper, 1 Echo Screen 1 Mythril Rod, 2 Ritual Hat, 1 Feather Hat, 1 Ice Brand, 2 Mythril Gloves, 2 Tent, 1 Jade Armlet, 1 Rising Sun, 1 Demon's Mail, 1 Plate Mail, 2 Adaman Vest, 1 Oak Staff, 1 Cat's Claws, 1 Anklet, 1 Fairy Earrings, 2 Golden Hairpin, 1 Demon's Vest, 1 Lamia's Flute, 1 Extension, 1 Vaccine, 1 Dagger, 1 Red Hat, 1 Egoist's Armlet, 1 Phoenix Pinion, 1 Exploda, 1 Gold Helm, 1 Brigandine, 1 Flame Staff, 1 Soft, 1 Thief Gloves

Items Purchased: 9 Zorlin Shape, 2 Rune Blade, 2 Obelisk, 2 Tiger Fangs, 2 Asura's Rod, 2 Hamelin, 1 Venetia Shield, 3 Diamond Armor

Sell ALL Potions and sell down to 3 Dead Peppers, as this is important for Pandemonium!

Simply save next to the Hilda Garde before dropping off Steiner and Vivi and then entering the Earth Shrine. If Quina did not learn Night while in Fossil Roo, then you will have to enter a random battle, knock out Quina and flee, save, and reset and revive until Quina has 1 HP.

Night-less strategy for Earth Guardian:
Two Limit Gloves and a reflected spell off of Quina will win the battle. This frees Zidane's turns to steal the Rubber Suit and Avenger if you still need gil to buy Zorlin Shapes in Bran Bal.

Night strategy for Earth Guardian: Similar to how Vaila Pira was defeated, you can use the Sleep status to inflict extra damage. Since all but one of Earth Guardian's will trigger a reset, Zidane and Quina must go first! Have Zidane attack and Quina use Night to put Earth Guardian to sleep. While Night is being cast, you will notice that Zidane's ATB will be near full when the animation is over. Zidane can attempt a steal AND THEN attack once his and Quina's gauges are full. Since Zidane's speed is higher than Quina's, his turn will just beat out Quina's before Earth Guardian wakes up! Just repeat Zidane's actions but have Quina eat Earth Guardian after Zidane's 3rd attack. There is the possibility that 3 attacks will NOT deal enough damage for Quina to Eat, but the total damage needs to exceed 15,600 for Eat to be successful. Both of Earth Guardian's steals are in the common and uncommon slots, so Master Thief is no longer needed!
*Credit goes to monkeyslinger on the FFIX boards for this strategy!

Key Abilities Learned:
Zidane - MP Attack
Quina - Insomniac

Target Time - 11:00:00
Gil - 25,000 (if you still need Zorlin Shapes)
Encounters - 1
