FFIX Excalibur II Perfect Game (Version X) - 44 Terra & Bran Bal (Path C)
Items: Coronet, Dragon Wrist, Elixir, Remedy, Mythril Racket, Demon's Vest, Minerva's Plate, Wing Edge, Angel Earrings, Flash Hat, Elixir
The time has come to return home....sort of. Make sure Dagger and Quina are in the party before proceeding. It is tough to get less than 3 encounters, but it can be done. I almost got through here with just one if it wasn't for RNG trolling. If the encounter check would have just waited one more second!
If you are following Path A or B, then you do not need to level up Quina or Dagger before Bran Bal, so you can aim for 3, or even two encounters. If you are following the Combined Stats path, get into an encounter while Dagger is wearing her stat-boosting equipment (I don't have the list right off hand) with a Hecteyes, KO everyone but her and throw an Elixir to dispatch it instantly. She will level up to Level 20, and change her equipment for Pandemonium before she leaves the party!
For Path C, you have to hold off gaining levels for Dagger and Quina until the last screen when you pick up the Minerva's Plate, as Dagger need's it to avoid stat loss.
Equip the duo as follows:
Dagger - Magic Racket, Lamia's Tiara, Magic Armlet, Minerva's Plate, Ribbon (Auto-Float, Chemist, Auto-Potion)
Quina - Silver Fork, Holy Miter, N-Kai Armlet, Light Robe, Black Belt
Then, before entering Bran Bal, encounter a Hecteyes and KO Zidane and Steiner, and have one of the two survivors use an Elixir on the enemy. Both characters will gain 15 levels. Dagger's Pandemonium setup is the same so leave her untouched. Quina's setup is almost the same, but you can set everyone up once in Bran Bal.
Once safely inside Bran Bal, simply head to the right and free Moorock, accept the final missable moogle letter for Mozme, and buy a few things for the rest of the challenge:
Items Purchased: 1 Defender, 1 Minerva's Plate, 20 Phoenix Downs
If you don't have 9 Zorlin Shapes yet, get them now! Selling the Avenger and Rubber Suit stolen from Earth Guardian, Demon's Vest, Dragon Wrist, Mythril Racket, Wing Edge, and 1 of the 2 Gaia Gears should almost be enough to make do. The Defender will boost Steiner's attack potential for Disc 4, Freya needs to wear the Minerva's Plate for Pandemonium, and I stock up on Phoenix Downs for the rest of the game. If Zidane is taking the EXP from Abadon during the Pandemonium bettles (Path A or B), then you can buy an Adaman Hat for Quina if you have the funds, as it will help greatly!
Save and on the restart, set up your party for your planned stat path. Since there is too much to list, consult the guide for answers. For Path C users, set up your party EXACTLY as follows:
Zidane - Orichalcon, Bandana, Bone Wrist, Gaia Gear, Reflect Ring (Auto- Reflect, Bird Killer) ***Zidane's Strength stat must be 22 or 23 for the Shell Dragon battle***
You can also leave the Bone Wrist off and Zidane will have 22 Strength which will work too, according to Zjankku and IllusionGamer.
Freya - Holy Lance, Mythril Helm, Venetia Shield, Minerva's Plate, Barette (Accuracy+, Bird Killer, Distract)
Quina - Silver Fork, Holy Miter, N-Kai Armlet, Light Robe, Rebirth Ring (Auto-Life)
Amarant - Kaiser Knuckles, Green Beret, Bone Wrist, Power Vest, -----
Don't forget Stiltzkin as he is here for your last missable deal! All that is left is picking up a few items and a few scenes and save as Eiko back at Moorock.
Time - 10:48:00***
Encounters - 3
