FFTA - Level 2 Game Part II: Desert Peril
Sped up twice, since everything is so slow in this game. Tell me if you like it better this way or not, so that I know what to do with the next vids. Thanks!
I would've done this earlier, but I accidentally saved after finishing the mission "The Cheetahs", meaning my Level 2 characters had some experience carried over from that battle. If that hadn't happened, I would be able to clear the mission with my overlevelled Illusionist so that everyone is ready to take part in the next storyline mission.
As a consequence of that mishap, I was forced to enter a mission with a Thief that knows Steal: EXP and have all my EXP stolen, which, I assure you, was not the easiest process of all.
This mission was not hard at all, especially owing to my preparation. Everyone in my party had been taught Damage = MP, and I feel it is appropriate to include a single section to this ability, as we are going to rely on it a lot during this challenge.
Damage = MP is an ability accessible to all humans, nu mous and moogles. As long as they have at least some MP (more than 0), damage will be done to the MP (as opposed to HP). There are many occassions during which Damage = MP will prove ineffective. For instance, certain moves bypass R-Abilities. They are not particularly strong, however, against a level 2 team, it hardly matters. Whatever hits at this point - kills. Of course, negative status effects are still a pain, and Damage = MP won't save us from those.
In a nutshell, if a character is hit no more than once before his turn comes, he will stay alive, even if the damage is superior to what he would be able to survive. We are not exactly the quickest entities on the planet at our level 2, so this works better on paper than in practice - nevertheless, that's one of the many things we will rely on during this challenge.
In this battle, I entered two Thief/Hunter units, 1 Gunner/Juggler (knows Hurl, which is our way of dealing with those annoying Flans) and 1 Gunner/Animist (Sheep Count is kinda cool). I think I was supposed to enter another character, but that was sufficient, really.
My strategy was to blind everyone with Blindshot, and to spam Sonic Boom, which at this point is still very powerful when performed by Thieves carrying Orichalcum/Cinquedea. You usually need two of those to kill an enemy, but sometimes one Sonic Boom is enough.
Most of the battle is spent trying to Hurl that Flan properly, and, since I'm not an experienced Hurler, I had trouble choosing a weapon to dispose of.
Otherwise, a safe battle. It was a good idea to enter the mission on the day Lightning was banned, otherwise that Flan could've been annoying.
The music used in the vid is listed at the end of the video.
