The fight against the Mimic Queen is a hard one. Healing is your top priority as the little mimics attack you relentlessly and killing them is not an option, because we can't level up.

The biggest danger is the limit break Shockstorm, which knocks out everyone, unless blocked or avoided.

I was lucky in the recorded battle, because the Mimic Queen didn't use Shockstorm a single time. I actually beat her on my 5th try yesterday, because of that annoying move alone.

To survive Shockstorm, don't fight with a full party and switch in Vaan when everyone is dead. However, you are not guaranteed survival since Mimic Queen CAN Shockstorm twice in a row with a tiny gap in between (it happened to me once). In this video I fight with a full party.

First step: have your party leader (in my case, Balthier) target the Mimic Queen. I have no idea what Basch's gambit setup as a guest is, but it seems that unless you target the right enemy immediately he just runs off in the distances and starts slaying little mimics mercilessly, forcing you to gain EXP. So, do that first.

Toss a Hastega Mote, which is the most convenient method to begin in any NLBLLG boss battle, unless you completely rely on Motes and Potions only.

The best way to damage MQ, is to toss Holy Motes, shoot with Balthier's Capella (get via Bazaar ASAP) and cast Blizzard with Fran. Holy Motes are a headache because they interrupt all your other actions and may very possibly lead to party members' death, so I advice against it. I used an Ether once to restore Fran's HP.

Remember, vitality over violence, so it may be a good idea not to cast Blizzard to have the party at full or near full HP at all times. That way Ground Shatter is not as threatening as it is to a party at low health.

Why I have Bal run around the queen in circles: it seems that when the party is spread out around the field, Mimic Queen is unable to kill everyone with Shockstorm.

I actually used a Phoenix Down only once in this battle (Vaan KO'd and I didn't even notice it at first), but if Shockstorm is used you'll need a dozen more. The equip/unequip trick was not required either.

Overall, I got lucky in this particular case, but it took 5 tries.

P.S. There is a much safer way to defeat MQ, but it is not as fun IMO. Watch RJ's video to see it, found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WjKcMu1T8c
