We set off to take on Miklan and the thieves and retrieve the Lance of Ruin, and our guide for this mission is Gilbert, a member of the Knights of Seiros. This area has a lot of thieves to fight, and this will be a very tough fight when we get to the end, so there will be a lot of preparations before taking on this tough mission.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

This chapter takes place at Conand Tower, and we have to fight against Miklan, who has stolen the Lance of Ruin, and it is his weapon for the battle. Gilbert is our guide for this mission, and he's not that helpful. I strongly recommend having any units with Combat Arts that deal extra damage to Monster units.
At the start of the map, there is a chest which contains an Armorslayer, this is a sword that deals extra damage to Armored Units, and Miklan is an Armored Knight, so that Armorslayer will come to great use for fighting him.
As for Gilbert, he is a Fortress Knight, while he is very defensive, the downside is he is very slow, and if you are playing on a harder difficulty, he tends to be near the wall, which attracts Archers, and if he does, the Archers will come charging right at your forces, and since Gilbert is a Fortress Knight, his Resistance is not that great, so he can easily be defeated by Mages, you don't get any reward if you let Gilbert be defeated on that map. There will be some reinforcements that show up at the beginning of the map, and on the northeastern part of the map, reinforcements appear, so I would split up your units to take on each of them.
One of the Rogues have an Accuracy Ring, which increases the hit rate for all attacks, including Gambits. As the Rogue is a Fortress Knight, I would recommend using a Mage to defeat it, as they have very low Resistance. Some of the Rogues have Battalions called Miklan Private Militia, which is exclusive to the enemies on this chapter.
Then for Miklan himself, and he does use the Lance of Ruin, a Hero's Relic that requires the wielder to have the Crest of Gautier to use it, and because Miklan does not have a Crest, he will take 10 damage when he enters combat, and while this does make it easier, he is a tough opponent, he has good Strength and Defense stats, so using your magic units can target his low Resistance stat, and he does unique battle dialogue if you let Sylvain fight him. If you have picked up the Armorslayer, giving it to one of your sword users, like Byleth, can get in some extra damage on him.
When you have defeated Miklan, we get a cutscene where he gets turned into a nightmarish beast, so this is the first time we fight a Demonic Beast, or a Monster unit, and this will repair all charges of Divine Pulse, and Sothis gives us a tutorial about how to defeat Monster units.
Monster units have barriers around them, and you have to try and destroy as many of them as you can, so if you have any Combat Arts that deal extra damage to Monster units, Byleth can get Bane of Monsters at C+ Rank in Swords, Petra, Claude, and Catherine learn this Combat Art as well. For Axes, they get Monster Breaker, Edelgard, Dedue, and Cyril learn that a C+ Rank in Axes, there is Monster Piercer for Lances, Dimitri, Sylvain, and Leonie learn that a C+ Rank, and there is Monster Blast for Bows, Claude learns this at C+ Rank.
Another easy way to get through Monster units is Gambits, some of which can break through multiple barriers, and any barriers will prevent them from counterattacking, and if all the barriers break, that will stun them for that turn, and you get some Umbral Steel, which can be used to repair Heroes' Relics.
If Gilbert is still in the fight, he will try to attack Miklan, even in his Black Beast form, it has the Crest Stone of Gautier. If the Black Beast attacks on the first turn, he will charge up an attack for the next turn, and if you don't destroy all the barriers in time, he will use Thorns of Ruin, a wide range attack that reduces any affected targets' Speed, and any barriers broken will regenerate.
The Black Beast has Vital Defense, which protects it from critical hits, Magic Bind inflicts silence status to targets, preventing them from using magic attacks, and Death Blow boosts strength by +6.
When you have defeated the Black Beast, that will be the chapter completed, and you do get a choice whether or not to obtain the Lance of Ruin, but only if you have Sylvain recruited, but do note that if you accept the Lance of Ruin, that does decrease support with Rhea. You don't miss out if you refuse, because there is another chance to get the Lance of Ruin later on in the game, and unlike his brother, Sylvain does have the Crest of Gautier, so he should be able to wield the Lance of Ruin without any negative effects.
