1Time for another paralogue, and we learn about a group of thieves once led by Sylvain's brother are causing trouble in Gautier territory, so he asks Byleth and her class for help with removing the thieves. As Sylvain is an easy recruit if you are using female Byleth, this paralogue does give good rewards.

Here is Sylvain's paralogue, and in order to attempt, you will need to have recruited Sylvain, which is very easy if you are playing as female Byleth, because you can recruit Sylvain without any requirements.
This paralogue takes place in Kingdom Territory, so this is the map used for some Auxiliary Battles, and you have to defeat the thieves that were once led by Miklan, and there is unique dialogue if you let Sylvain fight the Armored Knight at the southern stronghold.
You will need to defeat the Thief Leaders, because the thieves will escape if you don't capture any of the strongholds. Most of the thieves have some good items when you defeat them, you can get an Energy Drop, Magic Staff, Short Spear, Goddess Ring, Speedwing, and Advanced Seal.
For each of the Thief Leaders, and each of them have Battalions that can use Disturbance, the Archer is at the northwest stronghold, and he has Bowrange +1, giving him extra range with a bow, and has good Speed, Luck, and Dexterity stats. The Armored Knight guards the southern stronghold, and this one has a lot of Defense, so if you have any magic users, they can make quick work of him, or if you equip an Armorslayer on one of your units. The Brigand is at the northeast stronghold, and this one has good Strength and Speed, so try attacking that one from a range, like a bow or magic attack. The Dark Mage guards the southeast stronghold, and he has Miasma Δ and Heartseeker, which causes target to suffer -20 Avoid, and he's not that defensive, so your weapons can easily take him out.
When all the strongholds are captured, the thieves cannot escape, and your reward depends on how many thieves you have defeated, you get an Extra Large Bullion and Talisman if all thieves were defeated, otherwise you get a Large Bullion if some of them escaped. You also get a Longbow, which has more range than a normal bow, and requires a C Rank in Bow to use it.
You get a new Battalion called Gautier Knights, which have Stride, giving allies increased movement in a single turn, and it gives boosts to Strength, Avoid, Protection, and Charm, and a decrease in Magic, and it requires a B Rank in Authority to use it.
If you chose not to claim the Lance of Ruin in Chapter 5, this is how you can get it. The Lance of Ruin is tied to the Crest of Gautier, and as Sylvain has the Crest of Gautier, he should be able to use Ruined Sky, which has an increased Hit, Crit, and Avoid rate, and deals bonus damage against Flying and Dragon units. In New Game +, the Crest Item for Gautier is the Fissure Dragon Sign, and with the Crest Item, it has a 20% chance of raising Mt by 5 when using Combat Arts, and as Sylvain's Crest of Gautier is a Minor Crest, it is a 40% chance.
