The Mystery Gift code for Zarude is live for players in Europe, if you signed up to the newsletter on Pokémon.com, you will get a serial code for Zarude, and all serial codes are different, so the one I entered was the code I got, your codes may be different, and the code has to be redeemed from January 11th 2021 until March 31st 2021.
Zarude is a Mythical Pokémon introduced in this game and was included in the Isle of Armor update, it is a Dark/Grass-type and it was featured in the most recent Pokémon movie called Secrets of the Jungle. From this Mystery Gift code, you get a Level 60 Zarude, it will have a Sassy Nature and its moves are Close Combat, Power Whip, Swagger, and Snarl, so you will want to use a Mint to change its Nature to Adamant or Jolly, as those are much better Natures for Zarude.
Zarude will learn its signature move Jungle Healing at Level 90, this move restores HP and any status condition of Zarude and any of its teammates, so this is a very handy move for Max Raid Battles, but I face a problem, you cannot have Zarude in your party or use it in Max Raid Battles when playing online, this video was meant to show off Zarude in Max Raid Battles, but in the end, I decided to fight a Trainer with Zarude and show as much as I can with it. I hope that soon they should have a patch where you can use the Mystery Gift Zarude in Max Raid Battles.
For Zarude's level up moves, it can get some nice moves like U-turn, Hammer Arm, Synthesis, and many others, but most of Zarude's good moves are through TMs and TRs, it can get Darkest Lariat for a good Dark-type Physical move, and for other options, it can learn Rock Slide, Stomping Tantrum, Iron Tail, Low Kick, Superpower, Seed Bomb, Throat Chop, and many other moves, and for Tutor moves, it can learn Grassy Glide and Lash Out.
Zarude's best stat is Attack, and it has really good HP, Defense, and Speed, so Zarude can go on the support side with Jungle Healing, and for its moves, you will want Power Whip and Darkest Lariat for good STAB options, and Close Combat for type coverage. While it does have the same type as Shiftry, it has better stats than Shiftry except for Special Attack. The downside is from being a Dark/Grass-type is its 4x weakness to Bug, and considering how popular U-turn is in competitive battling, and there being some powerful Bug-type Pokémon, like Scizor and Volcarona, this can make the fight tough for Zarude.
Its Ability of Leaf Guard is not that great, while it does prevent Zarude from being affected by status conditions in strong sunlight, which could make it a good teammate for a Pokémon with Drought, like Ninetales or Torkoal, Leaf Guard is Zarude's only Ability, while most Pokémon that have Leaf Guard, like Tangrowth and Leafeon, are better off with their other Abilities.
Some of the Pokémon I have on my team are ones that appear in Secrets of the Jungle, so I have Greedent, Cramorant, and Flygon on the team, and if you were wondering about Braviary, this is because Pokémon GO had a tie-in event with Secrets of the Jungle which added Shiny Rufflet into the game, and even though Shiny Celebi is an important Pokémon in that movie, I do not have a Shiny Celebi, and the only Celebi that I have are the free one from Pokémon Bank in Pokémon X & Y, and I have one in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, which you get from a code after downloading the Virtual Console release of Pokémon Gold & Silver from the eShop, I feel like they should do a Mythical Pokémon distribution event like they did at the end of Gen 6 where each month you can get a Mythical Pokémon through the Mystery Gift.
Even though I am not a fan of serial code events, because you have to go to a retail store to get your code, I like how considering what has been happening in the world lately, you can get your code from the newsletter on Pokémon.com, I think that was a good idea, and my favourite type of distribution is connecting on the Internet through Mystery Gift and get the Pokémon without needing a code.
