God of War: Ascension - latest patch observations
12Here's a list of observations from when I played through the patched version (1.12) of Ascension earlier today.
- For some reason in the patched version airborne enemies that are frozen do not fall down and shatter. Instead they just hover in air in a glitchy looking way. This also makes some fights slower in the patched version since you can't rely on flying enemies shattering any longer.
- Most glitch tactics work like usual. Unarmed Jump, Shield Jump, Shield Discard Jump, Shield Run, Tremble Ledge Magnetism, Tremble Speed Glitch, Captain Planet glitch, Tether break-outs, Magic break-outs and Ice Rage glitch still work. The only trick that clearly did NOT work was the upgrading break-outs. Neither Shield or your items caused break-outs when upgraded.
- Broken Destiny jump worked too, but I was not able to do two of the known skips (before getting Amulet) with it. Apparently Kratos loses air momentum faster when doing the jump in the patched version. So, too bad.
- Not to mention the game is still a ticking time bomb and can randomly crash when playing it. In my 3-hour session it crashed twice. So in that sense, having it patched doesn't necessarily help.
- They fixed the glitchy Chapter 27 checkpoint. At least that's one less game breaking glitch to worry about. Interestingly, even if you use an old save to load a pre-glitched Chapter 27 checkpoint, you can just skip the Manticore fight since the enemy doesn't appear, the gate isn't closed and the next cutscene trigger exists.
- Not on the vid... but they fixed the subtitle error in Chapter 1!
- One positive discovery I had was that the unloaded Gauntlet level glitch looks cooler in the patched version. You can see phantom images of Kratos and enemies as the fight and cutscenes are going on (much like when staring into OoB). A lot of the later half of the video is just admiring the sight. EDIT: apparently this might not be patch-related and just rarely happens in the unpatched version too.
