Possibly because of the unique way it is activated - double tapping the gear use button - you are able to cause some unique break-outs with freeze grenades. Oh yeah, this video contains some spoilers.

The common X-prompts (or A-prompts in the Xbox One version) are immune to normal quick gear break-outs. However, when you double tap to do quick freeze and time the second tap with the X-prompt, then hold aim, Batman can break out of it. This causes various results, and still doesn't work with every single X-prompt, but it's worth keeping in mind.

Hard to say how all this works on the PC with the customizable keybindings. It could be that you can do even more different varieties of break-outs there.

0:00 - in cutscenes like talking to Azrael, Batman just stands in one place holding a freeze grenade in his hand. It looks fun, but it's just a shame you don't regain free movement during the cutscene.

0:27 - another cutscene glitch - freeing Catwoman.

1:00 - you can break free of the rescuing firefighter cutscenes. However, the dialogue afterwards can still start (?) if you get too close to the fireman. Didn't test this more than once.

1:23 - break-out of the statue inside clock tower. This actually saves a few seconds since the game skips the identity check altogether.

1:38 - a kind of useless test. Breaking out when interrogating a thug. You can accomplish the same thing (or better?) with just the normal break-outs, though.

1:53 - this clip seems to be using quick gel? Anyway, when rescuing the worker from the elevator, you get a fairly bizarre result if you do a break-out. The cutscene slightly glitches up as expected... but afterwards, when exiting the Batmobile, Batman suddenly teleports back inside the unloaded elevator. Wonder why?

2:35 - another cutscene glitch - activating the bridge console.

3:05 - I was hoping you could break out of the Oracle finding camera mini-game. Well, technically you do, but you don't regain free movement. Instead Batman just stands in a silly pose while viewing the security camera footage.
