Did I save the best for last?

I think the Hunter is the best of the first 4 characters. Her pistol is pretty good, and the crossbow wrecks the first 2 levels and the first boss. The dog finds health, keys, and other stuff that remains useful through the whole game. Also, as of the final update to this game, you can pet him.

The Gun soul is Dark Souls reference, and a very silly item. If you die with this in your inventory, everything respawns, you respawn with 2 hitpoints and HP max reset to 2, and if you get to where you died and pick up your body, you get your HP maximum back (but still empty). The crestfaller synergy only applies when in this state,
which is why I didn't notice anything (it makes the crestfaller do more damage). In principle, this item allows you to collect double money from killing everything in a
level twice. In practice, I don't think I've ever made it back to my body after "dying" with a Gun Soul.

I got some very good weapons this time round: the Hexagun and the Scrambler; two outstanding items from the starting pool. The Hexagun fires an insanely fast, high-power, piercing, possibly chickenizing bullet. Although the damage is reduced after it passes through an enemy, chickenization probability is not, which means 1-shot-2-
kills are quite common with this weapon, even on level 5. It is also able to chickenize enemies that can't be killed by normal means, like the block at 39:07. Just
don't step on a jammed chicken (Yes they can happen, and yes they can kill you. I speak from painful experience.).

The scrambler just has homing bullets and high DPS. It's a fantastic boss killer and a very good room cleaner too. Finding both these weapons is lucky, but with so few items unlocked, it's not ridiculously lucky. Sadly, I couldn't duct tape them together.
