Half-Life: MMod | Black Mesa South & Dream1 | No Failure Runs
Of course I was gonna try to run MMod as a gameplay mod. fallback_dir still works fine to slap all sorts of vanilla mapsets to it like all the others I've done so far for other mods. I do have some annoyances trying to run this as a gameplay mod, primary one being that it adds so much entities, a lot of vanilla-aligned maps actually just soft crashes with it. Couldn't run nearly half of Project Quantum Leap as a result.
Also, it keeps resetting the difficulty to Medium anytime I open up a map manually in the console. Incredibly irritating, since I generally play on Hard unless it's something new that I'm not used to. Have to change the difficulty and make sure it's actually being applied. Found out that doing it in the console is apparently not reliable enough, as the chargers in the Black Mesa South run still gives me 50HP/75AP. Just drives me bonkers.
There's various complaints to the actual newly implemented gameplay, like the suppressors being hilariously broken to the point where enemies ignore their helmets being plinked with a whole magazine, or the shotgun having a weird extra tic delay that causes me to need to hold down altfire instead of quickly tapping it before swapping back to another weapon, but they're thankfully not too gameplay shattering. Most of the mod is still pretty fun as a somewhat altered vanilla-ish setup.
