6With everyone frothing at the mouth for beta stuff, it's frankly staggering that no one's made any gameplay mods to get that beta feel. No, Overturn's unfortunately also not one of them. If anything, it's unfinished, which was fun to deal with 'cause half of the guns uses placeholder assets. Atleast one of the weapons just has no effects and sounds, so I can't at all use that to begin with.
After somewhat cobbling up a setup that looks somewhat presentable (not presentable enough for me to upload yet, sorry), another thing had to hit the rickety bridge I barely put together. w_grenade isn't cached by the engine. Guess what enemy likes to use one in HL1. Yeah. I don't know if there's a way to work around that, but for this particular run, there'll be absolutely no hgrunt presence whatsoever. Maybe I could trick it by having a monster_furniture that references w_grenade as a prop somewhere, I'll try some stuff later.
As for the mapset itself, not too fond of this one. I don't exactly hate it because it necessarily doesn't have mandatory secrets, but golly wolly jolly tommy bolly, it REALLY likes to summon monsters behind you. No teleport sounds, no warning, just immediate zap to the back. Playing this mapset on Hard is miserable thanks to that. Ended up overcompensating the wirejamming effort and placing batteries where medkits are to specifically counter the insufferable shenanigans the map's pulling.
