Hidden objects is one of my favorite game genres and the most favorite when it comes to puzzle and/or point&click games. However, the genre as such has become pretty stiff as to its form and many of the games look very alike, with similar puzzles, stories or art style. That is why Hero of the Kingdom is unique. It combines and adds elements from other genres and although, at its core, I consider this game a purely hidden objects experience, it offers a more sandbox approach and lots of items to find throughout the individual scenes/regions.

Hero of the Kingdom tells a story of a young peasant boy whose house is burned by bandits while the boy himself must start his adventure to find and save his father. Eventually, as the story unfolds, the boy must face more and more challenging tasks on his way.

The gameplay as such offers an invetory system that the player must keep track off to solve tasks and quests. There is a very simple crafting mechanic and a simple economic system which basically serves the purpose of affording all the items we need to make progress in the story. As far as the gathering, micro-management and pixel-hunting is pretty entertaining, the amount of backtracking you need to get all the stuff (and achievements) is almost absurd. Mind you that this is my second time I played through this game. That is why I may seem very familiar with most of the mechanics and locations. Nevertheless, I intend to play through the whole series (because yes, it has become a series).
