How to Add a NEW Drive to STEAM to Install Games on (Easy Tutorial)
Adding a new drive to Steam for game installations is straightforward. Here are the steps you can follow:
Open Steam Settings:
Launch the Steam client on your computer.
Click on the “Steam” menu in the top left corner.
Select “Settings.”
Add a New Library Folder:
In the Settings window, navigate to the “Downloads” section.
Click on “Steam Library Folders.”
You’ll see your default installation drive listed.
To add a new drive, click the “+” button at the top.
Choose the location of your new drive (e.g., D:\Games\Steam).
Create a folder called “Steam Library” within the new drive.
Confirm the Addition:
Select the newly created folder (e.g., D:\Games\Steam\Steam Library).
Confirm the addition.
All future game installations will be directed to this new location.
If you already have games installed and want to move them to the new drive without uninstalling, follow these steps:
Create a New Steam Library Path:
Make sure you’ve created a different Steam Library path on the new drive (as described above).
Navigate to Steam Settings - Downloads - Steam Library Folders.
Add the new library folder on the other drive and make it the default if desired.
Move Existing Games:
Select the drive where your existing games are located.
Choose the games you want to move.
Click the “Move” button.
