How to Add a NEW User Account to PS5 & Share Games with (Best Method)
6Adding a new user to your PS5 and sharing games is a very common and useful feature, especially for households with multiple players. The process is straightforward, but it's important to understand the concept of "Console Sharing and Offline Play" to ensure it works correctly.
Step 1: Add a New User Account
First, you need to add the new user's PlayStation Network (PSN) account to your console.
From the PS5 home screen, select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Choose Switch User Add User.
Select Get Started on the left side of the screen.
Accept the license agreement and the privacy policy.
You will then have the option to Sign In or Create an Account.
Sign In: If the person already has a PSN account (from a PS4 or PS5), they should sign in here with their email address and password.
Create an Account: If they don't have a PSN account, you can create a new one for them. This is the best option for a new player.
Once they've signed in or created an account, their profile will be added to your PS5. They will have their own game saves, trophies, and friends list.
Step 2: Enable "Console Sharing and Offline Play"
This is the most critical step for sharing your digital games with the new user. "Console Sharing and Offline Play" allows other users on that specific PS5 to play your downloaded games and access your PlayStation Plus benefits, even when the console is offline.
Log in to your own account on the PS5.
Go to Settings ⚙ ️ in the top-right corner.
Select Users and Accounts.
Choose Other from the left-hand menu.
Select Console Sharing and Offline Play.
You will see an option to either Enable or Disable it. If it's already enabled, you're good to go. If not, select Enable.
