How to Set Timer on PS5 to AUTO Turn off (Best Method)
The PS5 does not have a "timer" in the traditional sense that you can set to shut off at a specific time (e.g., "turn off in 30 minutes"). Instead, it has a Power Saving feature that automatically puts the console into Rest Mode after a period of inactivity. This is the "auto-off" timer you are looking for.
Rest Mode is a low-power state where the PS5 can still charge controllers, download updates, and allow for remote play. The console won't fully shut down unless you tell it to.
Here is the best method to set this automatic power-off timer:
From the PlayStation 5 home screen, navigate to the Settings icon (the gear in the top-right corner) and press the X button.
Scroll down and select System.
In the menu on the left, select Power Saving.
On the right-hand side, select "Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode."
You will see two separate options:
During Media Playback: This setting applies when you are watching movies, TV shows, or listening to music (e.g., using Netflix, YouTube, or Spotify). You can set the time for your PS5 to enter Rest Mode from 20 minutes to 4 hours.
While Playing Games: This setting applies when you are in a game or on the home screen. You can set the time for your PS5 to enter Rest Mode from 20 minutes to 5 hours.
