How to Automatically MUTE Mic on PS5 when logging in (Settings Tutorial)
To automatically mute your microphone on the PS5 when logging in, you can adjust a simple setting so the DualSense controller’s built-in mic stays off by default. This is handy for avoiding accidental hot-mic moments in game lobbies or chats right after you start the console.
From the PS5 home screen, head to Settings by selecting the gear icon in the top-right corner. Then, go to Sound, and from there, select Microphone. You’ll see an option called Microphone Status When Logged In. By default, it’s set to On, meaning the mic activates as soon as you log in. Change this to Mute, and you’re done. Now, every time you log in, the mic will stay off until you manually turn it on.
If you need to use the mic later, just tap the mute button below the PS button on your controller—it’ll switch from orange (muted) to unlit (active). This setting ensures privacy and peace of mind without needing to remember to mute it manually each time. Test it by logging out and back in to confirm the mic stays silent.
