How to Turn On Theft Protection on Android Phone to LOCK All Personal Information!
Open Theft Protection Settings:
Go to Settings - Google - All Services - Theft Protection.
Alternatively, navigate to Settings - Security & Privacy - Device Unlock - Theft Protection on some devices.
If you don’t see these options, ensure your device is updated, or check again later as features roll out gradually. If “Theft Detection Lock” is grayed out, your device may not support it.
Enable Theft Detection Lock:
In Theft Protection, toggle on Theft Detection Lock.
Tap Turn On to confirm.
This feature uses AI, motion sensors, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth to detect if someone snatches your phone and runs, bikes, or drives away. If triggered, it automatically locks the screen, preventing access to your data.
Note: Normal activities (e.g., running) may occasionally trigger it, but you can unlock the device with your screen lock. Google is refining this to reduce false positives.
Enable Offline Device Lock:
In Theft Protection, toggle on Offline Device Lock.
Tap Turn On to confirm.
This locks your screen automatically if the device goes offline for a prolonged period (e.g., if a thief enables Airplane Mode or disables Wi-Fi to evade tracking). The phone must be unlocked when it loses connectivity for this to work.
It activates up to twice in 24 hours to avoid overuse during testing
