Step 1: Back Up Your iPhone (Optional but Recommended)
Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable.
Open Finder or iTunes:
On macOS Catalina or later, open Finder and select your iPhone under “Locations” in the sidebar.
On Windows or macOS Mojave or earlier, open iTunes and click the iPhone icon in the top-left corner.
Create a Backup:
In Finder/iTunes, under “Backups,” select Back up to this Mac (Finder) or This computer (iTunes).
Check Encrypt local backup if you want to include passwords and health data (you’ll need to set a password).
Click Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.
Verify the backup in Finder/iTunes under the backup list or in Preferences - Devices (iTunes).
