How to Fix Controller Not Working on PS5 Pro in Games, but works on Home Screen
If your controller works fine on the PS5 Pro home screen but stops responding in games, it’s likely a software glitch, sync issue, or a problem with a stuck button. Since the PS5 Pro launched in November 2024, some early adopters have reported similar quirks, often tied to firmware or game-specific bugs. Here’s how to fix it step by step.
Start by checking the controller’s battery. Even if it works on the home screen, a low charge might cause it to drop in games. Plug it into the PS5 Pro with a USB-C cable, press the PS button, and see if it responds in-game while wired. If it does, charge it fully—takes about 2-3 hours—and test again wirelessly.
Next, reset the controller. Turn it over, locate the small hole near the Sony logo on the back, and use a paperclip or thin tool to press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. Then, plug it into the PS5 Pro with the USB-C cable, press the PS button to re-pair it, and launch a game to test. This clears minor connection hiccups.
If that doesn’t work, inspect the buttons, especially the triggers (L2/R2), which can get stuck and confuse the system. Gently press and wiggle each button and stick. If something feels off—like a trigger not popping back fully—pull it outward slightly to free it. Test in-game after. Dirt or wear could be the issue; clean around the buttons with compressed air or a dry cloth if needed.
