PlayStation 5 themes, similar to what was available on the PS4, have not been a major feature of the console. However, Sony has recently released system software updates that provide an option to change the user interface to a nostalgic theme inspired by the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. This feature was initially a limited-time offering for the PlayStation 30th anniversary but has since been made a permanent part of the console's settings.


How to Change PS5 Appearance to a Classic PlayStation Theme
Update your PS5: The classic themes are part of a recent system software update. Ensure your console is up to date by going to Settings System System Software System Software Update and Settings.

Go to Settings: From the PS5 home screen, navigate to the Settings icon ⚙ ️ in the top-right corner.

Navigate to Appearance: From the Settings menu, select System. Then, on the left-hand menu, choose Appearance.

Select Your Theme: In the Appearance menu, you'll see a few options. Select the one you want, whether it's the PS1, PS2, PS3, or PS4 theme.

Once you select a theme, the console's interface will change to reflect the classic design, including some of the button sounds and visual elements.

What is included in the classic themes?
The themes will change the appearance of your PS5 home screen, giving it a retro look and feel. This includes:

Background and icons: The background and some icons will be updated to match the aesthetic of the chosen console.

UI sounds: Some of the button press and navigation sounds will be replaced with the familiar "keetone" sounds from the classic consoles.

It's important to note that these "themes" are not the same as the full-fledged, downloadable themes available on the PS4, which often came with their own music and dynamic backgrounds. The PS5's approach is more of a UI overlay that changes the look and feel of the existing system menu.
