How to Connect your Xbox Series X Controller to the Xbox (Sync & Pair Tutorial)
Connecting your Xbox Series X controller to your Xbox console is straightforward. You have two options: a wireless connection using the console’s Pair button or a wired connection using a USB-C cable. Let me guide you through both methods:
Wireless Connection (Using Pair Button):
Insert Batteries:
Insert either AA batteries or rechargeable batteries from the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit into your controller. Note that the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller have built-in batteries and include a USB-C cable for charging.
Turn On the Controller:
Press and hold the Xbox button (the large button with the Xbox logo) on your controller. The Xbox button will flash.
Press the Pair Button on the Console:
On the Xbox Series X, the Pair button is on the front right, above the USB port.
On the Xbox Series S, the Pair button is on the front left, to the right of the USB port.
Pair the Controller:
Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller’s Pair button (a circular button on top of the controller) until the Xbox button stays lit. This indicates that the controller is connected.
Alternatively, you can use the Xbox Accessories app:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Go to Profile & system - Settings - Devices & connections - Controllers & headsets - Connect a device.
Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your selected controller.
Repeat for Additional Controllers:
You can connect up to eight wireless controllers to a console.
Wired Connection (Using USB-C Cable):
Insert Batteries:
Insert either AA batteries or rechargeable batteries from the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit into your controller. Note that the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller have built-in batteries and include a USB-C cable for charging.
Turn On the Controller:
Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller. The Xbox button will flash.
Connect the Cable:
Plug one end of a USB-C cable into your Xbox console’s USB port.
Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to your controller.
Pair the Controller:
Press down the Xbox button on the front of the controller. It will pair with the console.
