How to Fix Controller Not Connecting to Xbox Series X (Pairing Tutorial)
If your Xbox Series X controller is having trouble connecting, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Update Your Controller Firmware:
Make sure your controller’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates in the console settings menu.
Check Batteries and Signal Strength:
Verify that the batteries in your controller are charged.
Ensure that the signal strength between the controller and the console is strong.
Hard Reset the Console:
Turn off the Xbox Series X by pressing the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
Unplug the console’s power cable and wait for 10 seconds.
Press the Xbox button on the console 4-5 times to drain any remaining power.
Plug the console’s power cable back in and turn it on.
Re-Sync the Controller:
Press and hold the pairing button on the back of your controller near the bottom for a few seconds.
Navigate to the console settings, select “Devices and Accessories,” and then choose your controller to re-sync it.
Try a Wired Connection:
Connect the controller to the console using a USB-C cable.
If the cable doesn’t work, try pressing the sync buttons on both the controller and the console simultaneously.
Power Cycle the Console:
Turn off the Xbox Series X.
Remove the batteries from the controller for a few seconds and put them back in.
Turn on the console and try connecting the controller again.
