How to Control your TV with Phone using a Google TV Streamer
1To control your TV with your phone using the Google TV Streamer and the Google Home app, follow these steps:
Prerequisites:
Ensure your Google TV Streamer is set up and connected to your TV via an HDMI port.
Your phone and Google TV Streamer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Download the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Set Up the Google TV Streamer in the Google Home App:
Open the Google Home app on your phone.
Tap Devices at the bottom of the screen, then tap Add - Google Nest or partner device.
Select your home or create a new one, then choose Chromecast / Google TV from the device list.
Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code displayed on your TV screen or enter the code manually to link the Google TV Streamer to the app.
Complete the setup by signing in with your Google Account and connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
Access the Virtual Remote:
In the Google Home app, locate your Google TV Streamer in the device list and tap it.
On Android, this may automatically open the virtual remote. On iOS, tap Open remote to access it.
If prompted, enter the six-digit code displayed on your TV screen to pair the phone with the streamer.
Control Your TV:
Use the virtual remote in the Google Home app to navigate menus, select content, and control playback (play, pause, rewind, fast forward).
Swipe to move through the interface, tap to select, or use the Back, Home, and Assistant buttons for navigation. You can switch to a D-pad layout by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting D-pad control.
For text input (e.g., search queries or passwords), use your phone’s keyboard for faster typing.
If your TV supports Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), you can use voice commands like “OK, Google, turn on my TV” or adjust volume via the app, provided the Google TV Streamer is set up to control power and volume
